Solar panels on the roof, sun shining – in theory all the work should be happening, and you can sit back and enjoy, but if one of those panels are affected by shading then all of them are and your solar isn’t working as hard as it should be – how do we fix this?
Leading the solar industry for 30 years, Enphase have developed products specifically for your household to get solar systems working to optimal efficiencies. Based in the Silicon Valley, USA Enphase have been pioneering the world stage of solar and pushing innovations further than they have ever been, backed by immense industry experience and expertise Enphase are the most popular household name in solar.
Instead of operating in a string system each panel is generating solar independently from one another – if one panel is covered in leaves – the others aren’t which is the way it should be. If one panel is affected by debris or leaves, and the other panels are not then you will not see a significant change in production levels as if you had a string inverter. The Enphase Micro Inverter sits beneath each panel to do this and removes the need to have high voltage cabling running down the side of your home because all the hard work is done on the roof below the panels.
Each panel works independently, if one panel is affected by shading the others are not
Value for your money
Standard String System
Only performs as well as its lowest-performing panel
If one panel is affected – your entire system’s generation is affected too
Requires extra cabling from the panels on the side of your home
More common than not, your solar system is connected to a string inverter which converts the DC power to AC power. But it can and only will perform as well as its lowest-performing panel – meaning that if one panel is shaded or generation is affected by any other unavoidable factor then your whole system is affected. So, in autumn when there’s leaves flying all around the roof and one of your panels is covered in them – essentially all your panels will have the similar shading results. Micro Inverters remove this fault and ensure your panels are working to their optimal efficiency.
