Victorian Renters to Install Solar

A recent announcement by Daniel Andrews to extend his re-election promise has included to give rental property tenants/landlords the opportunity to install a solar panel system and claim a rebate. This is the first time in Victoria that rental properties have been included in a solar rebate scheme and is a fantastic initiative to help decrease the price of energy for tenants.

How much can be claimed on the rebate?

The rental rebate scheme will be for up to 50 per cent of the installation cost for installing a solar system and renters will make a 25 per cent contribution toward the installation, this will be through a monthly levy. The levy will be across four years. The remaining cost of the installation will be funded by the rebate and the landlord.

How many rebates will be available?

As part of the extended scheme, 10,000 solar panel rebates for rental properties will be available.

When will the Rental Rebate be open to applications?

As this is an election promise, applications for the Solar Panel Rental Rebate Scheme are not yet open and will only be active with a re-elected Daniel Andrews Labor Government.
