The NSW Government is helping homeowners in eligible postcodes access interest-free loans to install solar and battery systems under their Empowering Homes solar battery loan offer.

These systems provide clean, renewable energy and can help you cut your energy bills and become more self-sufficient.

Through this offer, you can get an interest-free loan of up to:

  • $14,000 towards a solar PV and battery system (repayable over a range of terms up to 8 years), or
  • $9,000 towards retrofitting a battery system to an existing solar PV system (repayable over a range of terms up to 10 years).

Eligibility

To qualify, you must:

  • Live in one of these postcodes.
  • Have a household income of no more than $180,000 per annum.
  • Own your grid-connected home, live in it and have the authority to install the system.
  • Satisfy the loan criteria.

The battery-only option is for homes with existing solar. This offer does not include solar-only options. Businesses are not eligible to apply.

The installation went very smoothly. The installers were very professional and explained the work involved , including negotiating and advising on the positioning of the solar panels and inverter prior to commencing the work. After the installation, everything was again explained to us to ensure that we understand what we have. Prior to leaving all the rubbish were taken away and the work area swept clean. I should also say that the sales team at Sunbank were knowledgeable and very helpful throughout the whole process.
